According to the real admissions standards of the Ivy League, admissions officers will evaluate students' backgrounds holistically and provide valuable suggestions of their college planning. Then students can clearly recognize their own strengths and weaknesses as well as their potential so that they can adjust their college application strategies. Based on the detailed evaluation report, students can create their unique competition model to build up their competitive advantage towards their dream colleges.
Each student's current art work will be evaluated according to the portfolio requirements of each art program. Not only will art professors grade the artistic quality of each artwork, but also look for connections between the pieces and assess a student’s conceptual thinking skills. The art professors’ experience in reviewing portfolios gives students a comprehensive evaluation report and recommendations for further development of their portfolios.

If you are not satisfied with your current university, transferring to an American university is a second chance for freshmen and sophomores at any university in the world to change their fate!
The two fundamental differences between American undergraduates and other universities in the world are general education and flexible major conversion. The Blue Torch USA team helps students accurately guide their current university course selection so that they can not only meet the course requirements of the current university, but also accumulate credits for successful transfer to future universities, which can not only ensure that the transfer requirements are met, but also enable them to graduate on time at future universities. At the same time, accurate early university course selection can also lay the foundation for their future major change. On the premise of selecting relevant courses in advance, it is possible for students to change their majors in future universities.
In the preparation process of transferring to an American university, the Blue Torch USA team designed unique scientific research and extracurricular activities based on students' interests and hobbies, created a student portrait of top American universities, and greatly increased the writing materials for transfer documents, meeting the expectations of admissions officers of top universities.
Transfer application essays are a challenge faced by every transfer student. Blue Torch USA forms a three-person transfer application committee for each student, invites former or current admissions officers with Ivy League experience to provide personal guidance, has American independent education consultants revise each version of the application essays, and has a dedicated application proofreader do the final review, helping students transfer to their dream schools!
Blue Torch USA's connection to the #1 ranked arts high school in the U.S. dates back to 2017, when our company's Co-founder, after visiting a number of top high schools throughout the U.S., and as a Ph.D. of Education, had a keen insight into the special strengths of Interlochen Arts Academy in preparing students for their future, and sent her daughter Alice to the high school. Three years later, Alice not only became an honor graduate of the school, but also won major art competitions throughout the United States, including the 2021 YoungArts Finalist, becoming the only Chinese-American student among the 11 visual arts winners in the United States that year, which made her a semifinalist for the Presidential Scholar, the highest award for high school students in the United States.
In 2021, Dr. Hermenitt was invited to conduct three training sessions for all the college guidance teachers at Interlochen Arts Academy to help them better guide the students of the school in the event of an epidemic.
In 2023, empowered by the Interlochen Arts Academy Admissions Office, Dr. Hermenitt represented Interlochen at the World Boarding School Education Tour organized by TABS (The Association of Boarding Schools). She also organized admissions officers from the top three U.S. art high schools to meet with families in Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen to discuss the special advantages ofart high schools in U.S. undergraduate applications. In the same year, Dr. Hermenitt once again represented Interlochen to participate in the Shenzhen Study Abroad Elite Exhibition organized by EduKnow to make this top-ranked art high school in the United States well-known in China, and to help more children with a passion for art to build up self-confidence and realize their dreams in their own passionate field, just like Alice!
The vast differences in artistic and philosophical concepts between the East and the West cause students to prepare portfolios that confuse them about what American colleges really expect.
To help Chinese students understand and incorporate Western art concepts into their work, Blue Torch USA has teamed up with Atelier School of Art, one of the top art studios in the United States, to design a series of art foundation and specialty courses. Blue Torch USA hires current and former U.S. art professors to teach Chinese students, so that not only will they be able to create excellent works of art, but they will deeply understand the thinking patterns of the professors in each class. The Chinese students can ask their own questions in the field of art at any time, combine their own characteristics with Western art, and develop their ability to create portfolios recognized by art professors in American universities.
By hiring Chinese art portfolio teachers who graduated from top art schools in the U.S., Blue Torch USA adopts a dual-teacher model to have both Chinese teachers and American art professors working together to ensure that Chinese students fully absorb the essence of Western art. These Chinese teachers carry out same-day teaching to integrate the full range of topics in classes, added their own guidance. By combining Chinese and English, lifting the fundamental language barriers, and cultivating multi-dimensional thinking, they ensure that Chinese students successfully complete the art works required for future portfolios in their college applications.
In the comprehensive evaluation system of top American universities, curiosity is the first element, and research in a certain field is an important manifestation of curiosity.
Art research not only helps students who are on the path of art to dig deeper into the art field they are interested in, so as to effectively demonstrate their academic research ability. More importantly, its research topics can inspire students' creative inspiration, create new art themes related to their art portfolios, and perfectly combine art with academics.
For students who are not majoring in art the research, compared to other research projects, can help break the stereotype that traditional Chinese students are only good at learning. Without the need for portfolio evidence, art is cleverly integrated into the background improvement of students, which not only proves students' academic research ability, but also shows the diversity of students, perfectly matching the basic principles of American undergraduate admissions.
Blue Torch USA and the director of admissions of the School of Art and Architecture at UCLA, the top public university in the United States, jointly created a comprehensive online art research project. The director of admissions personally guides the visual art research project, and invites American art professors in other art fields to join, and carry out university-level art research projects in many fields such as music, drama, dance, and design. During this process, Blue Torch USA hired ESL lecturers to coach students in essay writing, and Chinese art teachers who graduated from top American art schools coached students simultaneously to ensure that students can write excellent research papers on time and have the opportunity to obtain recommendation letters from art professors, helping students build an excellent background with artistic characteristics and high academic level!
Art competitions are a self-evident proof of the artistic level of students applying for art majors, while for students not majoring in art, they are a powerful tool to distinguish themselves from other competitors. Since admissions officers recognize the value of Western art competitions in American undergraduate applications, it is very important for students to participate in American and Western art competitions.
Professor Todd Burroughs, founder of the Atelier School of Art, a top art institution in the United States and a strategic partner of Blue Torch USA, is a Michigan judge of Scholastic, the largest art competition in North America. The students he and his team of professors guide can win many American national gold medals and gold medals of portfolio every year.
In 2021, Alice, as his earliest student, won the highest award of the year, the Best-in-Grade, which was one of the two best works in grade 12 selected from more than 300,000 works. Because the unique oil painting technique created by Professor Todd can help students who have never painted oil paintings to create excellent oil paintings, in the summer of 2023, student Stone created his first oil painting (pictured on the right) in just two months of summer vacation and won the Scholastic-Gold Award of Michigan.
In order to help Chinese students truly understand and integrate Western art concepts into their own works when studying Western art courses, Blue Torch USA and the founder of the Atelier School of Art, a top art institution in the United States, jointly designed a series of American art master classes. The courses are taught by art professors from the University of Michigan and other art professors, and Chinese art teachers who graduated from top art schools in the United States teach students simultaneously. This dual-teacher teaching model combines Chinese and foreign teaching and removes fundamental language barriers. It will cultivate students' abilities in the following aspects:
The competition for admission to top American universities is very fierce. The only way to help students realize their dreams is to help them build their unique competitive advantages.
Dr. Hermenitt, co-founder of Blue Torch USA, pioneered the Youth Individual Development Plan (YIDP) based on personalized development in 2015. By discovering students' talents and advantages, she established a unique competitive advantage model for each student, and at the same time allocated top American resources to help each student create a competitive advantage from scratch. It not only helps students succeed in their application to American universities, but also points out the direction for their future career development.
YIDP covers all areas required for student development. Through regular meetings with students and parents every week or two, academic improvement, community contribution, specialty development, and competitive summer school applications are implemented one-by-one. It not only points out the direction for students' every step, but also guides them on how to manage priorities and time. Through in-depth understanding of students, help each student find a learning method suitable for themselves in different subjects, improve learning efficiency, and build academic confidence. At the same time, by developing and supporting students' extracurricular activities and volunteer activities, establish and strengthen students' quality characteristics, self-confidence and emotional intelligence. As a result, students can find the best balance among subject learning, academic competitions, scientific research projects, talent development, and community contribution in their busy and intense studies, creating a unique personal profile that allows them to stand out in the competition for admission to American universities and realize their dream of attending a prestigious school!
